International Youth Day 2022

What is International Youth Day?

International Youth Day is a day that has been organised and promoted by the UN every year, since 2000. The day aims to bring awareness to cultural and legal issues surrounding youth. This year’s theme is Intergenerational Solidarity, which looks at achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through the lens that “no one is left behind.”

Ageism

This year’s theme looks explicitly at issues involving ageism. The World Health Organization defines ageism as “the stereotypes (how we think), prejudice (how we feel) and discrimination (how we act) directed towards others or oneself, based on age.” Despite a lack of research, young people continue to suggest that they experience age-related barriers in various aspects of their life – including employment.

Project EV

It’s important to create a world for all ages – a vital aspect of this lies in the workplace. Today Project EV wants to celebrate its inclusive team, where members of all ages are able to work together to drive the UK’s road to net-zero. Project EV offers the younger generation opportunities to work in an enjoyable environment, for a cause that will benefit them in the future more than it will anybody else. There is no stigma towards any age within the company, which should stand as an example for businesses everywhere
